We have investigated some software solutions, but none were nearly as good as the hardware solution for our particular needs. Our lab uses some older educational games and these either would not work, or worked far too slowly, using software solutions. The real beauty of the hardware solution is its speed, and compatibility. Our system was first installed in 1997, yet when we replaced the computers this last summer with new ones (probably the 4th time since the original install), everything kept working great. Also, when we had a power supply go out 2 years ago, we were able to purchase a replacement without problem.
